Flow too strong for basil

I set up an NFT channel for basil, but the water flow seems too strong like it’s almost washing the roots away. I thought NFT was supposed to be gentle. Do you guys adjust flow rates differently for herbs vs. leafy greens?

In my garage system, basil always prefers slower flow. I keep leafy greens on the higher‑flow channels and herbs on the ones I throttle down. Once the roots thicken up, they handle it better.

I once blasted my basil so hard the roots were waving like seaweed. Now I run about half the flow rate for herbs. They don’t drink as fast as lettuce, so a softer film keeps them happier.

Definitely follow that advice on throttling down. if your pump doesn't have a built in regulator, you can just add a simple ball valve to that specific basil line
