Hi Jaida here! I’m growing lettuce in a small DWC setup and just saw some tiny flies flying around. I think they’re fungus gnats?? I’ve never had bugs in hydro before. How do I get rid of them without hurting the roots? appreciate any suggestions!
Hi Jaida! I ran into the same thing with my spinach. Sticky traps help a lot and I also covered the net pots with foil to block light and stop gnats from laying eggs. Just keep the top dry and they’ll go away pretty fast.

oh, I did the same method, it works. but OP can also try killing the larvae in the water without harming the roots.
Use Bt. This is a natural, organic bacteria (usually sold as Mosquito Bits or Dunks) that specifically kills fly larvae when they ingest it, but it's totally safe for your plants and roots.
You can steep the Bt dunks in your nutrient water during your next reservoir change
