I'm 80 and recently moved into a retirement village. Best decision I've made in years. Been here just on 3 years. At the house I had I had an NFT system (4 drain pipes each 1.5m long) Grew lettuce, strawberries, Roma Plum tomatoes. basil, thyme, celery. It was a success, but much more important enjoyable. My wife is now disabled - bone cancer - and now my double garage has an empty spot. I want to install something similar and use strip grow lights. I have solar power so electricity not a problem. I would also like to grow tomatoes, bell peppers and cucumber on towers probably in separate buckets All for home consumption salads etc. Any and all advice will be welcome. Would appreciate plans or reference to WWW sites so I can visualize. My problem is I cannot sit still, but can't leave the house for extended periods.

Hi @Rodlau! Welcome to the forum! It’s inspiring to see you setting this up again. Hydro towers in buckets are budget‑friendly and effective. Tomatoes will need staking, peppers stay compact, and cucumbers love climbing and they're a perfect mix for fresh salads! How do you plan to manage the nutrient solution with the bucket towers, recirculating or drain‑to‑waste?
