Solved my root slime & slow growth nightmare cheap UV sterilizer did it

Hey everyone! I just wanted to share something that might help some of you out there. I was really struggling with that dreaded root slime and the slow growth cycle in my hydro setup. I mean, I tried everything, got the temps just right, balanced the pH, experimented with root treatments, even used distilled water. But honestly? Nothing seemed to make a difference.

Just when I was about to throw in the towel, I decided to give a cheap UV pond sterilizer a shot. And wow, what a game changer. My root growth exploded, the slime disappeared, and I was even able to use basic coco nutes without stressing over pH levels. I definitely think it's worth a try.

Where did you get your UV pond sterilizer and which brand?
It isn't something everyone thinks of, but it makes a lot of sense for tackling waterborne issues!

Thanks! I picked up my UV pond sterilizer from TotalPond at Home Depot, and it's been performing really well for the price. It's done a great job keeping algae and bacteria under control in my setup.

Thanks for that, I've not had that problem yet but it's something that concerns me, I live in a hot place so my buried reservoir temperature ranges between 26-28c, I'm looking into solutions for that but am also about to build another rig which can't have a buried tank, so it can only get worse !

I'm aware that the excess temperature makes me more vulnerable to rotting and the like, I can pick up a UV aquarium sterilizer here for the equivalent of 3 quid, so have just ordered a pair.
