UV-C light for sterilization

Anyone here has experience using UV-C for water sterilization within their hydroponic system? I'm concerned how to set it up and if it might damage roots of my plants. I'd appreciate getting feedback from experience!

It's smart to think about UV-C carefully since it's strong stuff. You generally place the UV-C sterilizer in line with your water pump so the water flows through it before it ever gets to the plants or roots.

I learned this the hard way with an aquarium UV sterilizer; if the UV light directly hits the roots, it's like a wrecking ball for them, so keep it contained in the plumbing.

@zyll.hydro around 254 nm kills bacateria, viruses and everything else you're trying to get rid of and as @frothic|approach said, keep it away from the roots. You can also place a mesh filter 100 or 200 micron to capture as much dirt and debris as possible.
