White foam in the rez after carbo loading

Topping up my reservoir the other day and decided to give the plants a little carbo boost but 2 days later I peeked in and noticed this weird white foam collecting on the surface now I'm thinking uh… is this normal? the mix still smells fine and the pH seems to be okay too. Still, the foam is just giving me a little scare because I know how hard I've worked for this particular batch and I dont want anything ruining it
Has anyone else run into something like this?

White foam after adding carbs can happen if microbes start feeding on the sugars, even if the smell and pH look fine. It happens a lot in hydro when the water gets warm or there’s not enough oxygen moving around. Do you have an air stone or anything keeping the water stirred up?

I had the same scare the first time I used a liquid sugar additive. It looked like a bubble bath was starting in my reservoir.
For me, it was 100% just the product. The sugars/surfactants in that new boost lower the water's surface tension, and the constant air pump aeration whips it into that white foam, much like whipping egg whites.

Since your pH and smell are still good, I'd skim off the worst of the foam and keep an eye on it. As the plant absorbs the nutrients/sugars over the next 24-48 hours, the foam should naturally dissipate. If it lasts more than a couple of days, then you can start worrying about an imbalance.
