First time growing lettuce in water

I just started with some lettuce in a small setup. Yesterday, I gave them their first food using a simple mix (not Flora Series, but close). I put 2ml of each part into a gallon of water, then gave the plants about 10ml. After mixing, the pH was 5.8 and the PPM was around 720. I'm not sure if that's too strong for small plants. They look okay now, but I'd love to know how others feed young leafy greens when starting out. Thanks!

Nice, welcome to the world of hydroponics!!
For small plants like that, a PPM of 720 might be a bit on the high side but it's not a dealbreaker.
The pH of 5.8 is perfect, so you've got that dialed in.
I'd usually start young seedlings with a much weaker solution, often around 300-400 PPM for the first week or so after they sprout true leaves. You can always dilute your current mix to bring it down.
It's better to start a little lighter and then gradually increase the strength as the plants get bigger and demand more nutrients.
Good luck and happy growing!!

720 PPM is a bit on the strong side for young lettuce, start them closer around 300 to 400 PPM and work up as they grow. If they look fine now, no panic, just keep an eye on the tips for burn and maybe dilute the next feed a bit

Appreciate the info! I’m growing basil and mint in a DIY system. Is it okay to use the same nutrient mix for both or do different herbs need different levels?
